The San Matías Gulf is an area that offer multiple opportunities for using its natural resources. But to be able to make use of their benefits in a sustained way, participative management processes must been impelled to achive this sustainable use.

For the San Matías Gulf Project , this ecosystem is a site with a lot of potential to show alternatives in the administration and management of natural resources.

We are based in:

1. The possibility of self management that this area possesses;
2. the quality of its institutions;
3. the political desisions taken by its authorities promoting responsible fishing;

and its initiatives related to looking for new market incentives.

To ensure an envoronmentally responsible fisheries managment is a big challenge. Implies to ensure the conservation of marine ecosystems and the local livehoods while the economic activity should remain profitable.

To achive it, we work together with local players and international organizations to promote the San Matías Gulf ecosystem  invertebrates multi-specific fishery certification .
