Juan Manuel Acatino, Production Minister of Rio Negro Province, wrote a letter (dated July 21, 2006)
Expressing his satisfaction with the workshop. Quote, “the iniciative and the important support that your
foundation has given towards the provincial project enhances us to continue.
A project that supports well-managed and sustainable fishing within our district, carrying out ordered
and well-planned development. About all creating sustainable and economic fishing within the San Matías Gulf and all waters of Rio Negro Province.”
Humberto Iglesias, Under-Secretary for Production and Natural Resources of Rio Negro province, said to the Madryn newspaper (July 31, 2006)
“What is trying to be certified is a responsible system of
fishing management. Through agreements in all areas of fishing that wish to be audited externally to ensure
that throughout the chain of production, their product is handled environmentally responsible. This iniciative
calls for support and back-up from private and public sectors, “having participated in the workshop, he continued
on to say,” This project will integrate with other Provincial iniciativies like the certification of responsible
fishing, of common hake in the San Matías Gulf, conforming the principals and criteria of MSC and with close
monitoring of the Provincial Biological Institute.”
